Purpose
The Technology Innovation Program is intended to introduce educational technologies that enhance learning at UMC. This may be accomplished through faculty, staff, or student development; introduction of new technologies; applied research related to instruction or by improvements in existing systems.

Proposal Guidelines
Proposals may be submitted by UMC faculty, staff or students. Submitted proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• Projects must provide direct, visible benefits to UMC academic environment.
• Projects should make new investments in instructional applications, technological infrastructure, equipment, and services ("new" may be interpreted to also mean expansion of existing investments).
• Projects may be for technology including hardware, software, networking, access, support services, data, conference participation, and attending specialized training.
• Projects must fall inside the parameters of technology that is supported at UMC.
• Projects are required to include an assessment component.
NEW: Projects awarded funding will be required to give a presentation.  This will provide project stakeholder an opportunity to share their successes and inform the campus community.

Proposals must include the name of requestor/s (project owner/s), project description including audience to be served, (including provision for support, maintenance, lifecycle replacement), intended benefit to students, an itemized budget for project (including costs associated for support, maintenance, lifecycle replacement) and project assessment plan.

Committee Review Process
The UMC Technology Committee, which includes students and representation from the Executive Committee will review and fund proposals meeting the project guidelines.

Timeframes
Proposal deadline for first funding period will be Wednesday, October 31, 2007
