Email
account after graduation
Issue
How long will an email account remain active after a student graduates?
Resolution
Graduates are now offered continued use of their University of
Minnesota e-mail account but not full access to University internet
services. To check their e-mail, they must make their own arrangements
for access to the Internet.
Graduating students can continue to use their umn.edu e-mail
account.
If they use their umn.edu e-mail account on a regular basis, their
account will remain active for at least 5 years.
E-mail accounts that have not been used for six months will be
closed.
If the account has been closed (not using the account for six
months) and the student wants to reinstate their e-mail account,
a $10 re-activation fee will be charged.
When extending their account students will not have access to:
Library Materials.
Public labs.
Modem Pool (that is, dialing into the University remotely).
To access your e-mail through the University modem pool, you must
make separate arrangements through the Alumni Association. For
further information please visit the Alumni Association Website.
You can also e-mail umalumni@umn.edu or call 612-624-2323.
